Competitive

The competitive class consists of all positions for which it is practical to identify the benefit and fitness of candidates by competitive (civil service) examination. Most clerical positions fall within this class as do most support staff positions. NY HELPS: Above titles with NY HELPS consisted of in the name become part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
